Olympics Parade

One of the most fantastic events that happened over this summer was of course The Olympics in London- I loved watching them. There were so many inspiring stories and great highlights. I was so proud of all of our GB athletes.

A few weeks ago I was therefore delighted to be working on an event- through work- to welcome home our Scottish athletes who were part of team GB and the Paralympic team. Just as local towns and cities had events up and down the country Glasgow welcomed our Olympic and Paralympic athletes home and showed our pride and gratitude.

I was quite stars truck especially when cyclist Sir Chris Hoy arrived.... And his lovely thighs! ;-)

I also loved seeing the Stella McCartney designed team kit up close- I loved the girls jackets which were nipped in at the waist with a lovely tie at the back (pretty flattering but then the athletes all have great bodies!)

I thought the Royal Mail's marketing team did a great job around the Olympics- for those of you that are from the States- they painted a mail box gold in the home towns of each of the Gold Medal athletes. Each gold medal team or individual then got a First Class stamp made of their photograph. At the Olympic Parade event each gold medalist was given their stamp as an enlarged board- there were over 10 in total from Scotland. We also recreated a gold post box for photo opportunities- which was a big hit. (My colleague Ailsa and I are photographed below)

We didn't have long to pull the event together but it was a privilege to be involved and say thank you for the amazing effort and dedication the athletes put into their sports in the run up to and also at the Olympics.

Chores

I am a bit overwhelmed with chores at the moment.

I had a lot on my plate anyway and then being ill has meant they have had to be put off for another week.

I have made a start today and feel a bit better. However once you start you then realise how enormous the task is! And that's only in my own house! And I haven't even got to my bills, correspondence or any of my Grandma's stuff.

I have however cleared 2 black bags full of clothes for the charity shop this morning. (I am saying goodbye to clothes I have held on to for far too long!)

I managed to do a lot of cleaning and some laundry too- I even had a little helper!

I am hopeful of being focused till the job is done. Little and often!

Flu

I have been unwell for the last week. It started a week past Thursday when I thought I had a cold and it then progressed into full- I can't even move my head off the pillow- flu!

I finally went to the Doctors a few days ago (i don't really like taking too many medicines but as you can see below i have stocked up) and have antibiotics so it should clear up but she said to expect to feel rubbish for at least another 2-3 weeks till I am fully recovered! Boo!

Bb has however been loving having a companion to snuggle up with. I have been a bit like a cat (yesterday for example I slept from 9am-1 then again from 2-7pm and then a full night from 11-7.30!)

I need to get fit and eat healthier 'cos I can't keep being ill.

Fall Flowers

My lovely sister and Mum sent me these beautiful fall flowers.

I adore them and as you can see I am not the only one! (I took off the pollen for the lillies before Miss Bb got near them!)

Autumn has arrived

I love a change in season and especially an opportunity to put up or change my room decor.

I hope I always make an effort with my themes for the living space.

I have enjoyed having the candles lit now the nights are drawing in.

Miss Bluebelle (Bb)

So here's hoping my first post with images goes well. They don't seem to be loading up in the right order but here is hoping!

The newest news around here is that I got a little kitten. I have wanted one for the longest time so when my sister was over from Oz she accompanied me to pick up my crazy little ball of fur!

I will have to download the images on my phone of when we went to see her at 7 weeks old- she was very little.

We got her just after 8 weeks old and she has been a pleasure from day one- she used her litter tray straight away, eats well, is VERY playful but also SUPER cuddly and has been great with our friends and even their very playful kids.

The latest development is that she loves to lay round my neck or on my chest. It is very cute!

I love having a wee furry face to come home to and look after.

So prepare yourself for a lot more Bb pictures! (she's currently trying to pad the iPad too!)

No more promises- just action!

I am trying to get my feet back on the ground and work out my responsibilities, my needs (including making time for diet and exercise) and the way I need my life to be to make me happy.

I have started taking stock and I realise one of the things that used to make me happy was my blog. I think it channels me in the right way- I cook more, I get out and do more.

So I've downloaded blogger onto my I-paid and whilst I currently Facebook, tweet and Instagram every day I will now try and do a wee entry into my blog too.

I think I am going to have to just let go of the last (almost) 2 years of potential posts and realise sometimes life gets in the way.

Here's to a return to a simpler life.
